• FORMER FIRST DAUGHTER EXPECTING BABY
Chelsea Clinton — who will reprise her role as First Daughter if her mom gets elected president — announced Thursday on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she’s pregnant and expecting her first child “later this year.” She also told Vogue magazine last August she would consider a run for office at some point in the future.

Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, Attorney General Douglas Gansler, and Montgomery County Del. Heather Mizeur answered questions separately — and secretly — from education and business leaders at a forum at Towson University’s SECU Arena, where they were not permitted to hear their opponents’ responses.
Earlier Thursday evening, they were scheduled to appear separately at a Baltimore senior center forum sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and the local NAACP.

As Baltimore’s Washington Monument and Mount Vernon Square undergo renovation that will last well into 2015, the Washington Monument in the nation’s capital will reopen May 12, nearly three years after being damaged by a 5.8 magnitude earthquake.

• P.G. TOWN ADMINISTRATOR TO RUN CITY LIQUOR BOARD
Michelle Bailey-Hedgepeth, the current town administrator and chief financial officer of Capitol Heights in Prince George’s County, was named Wednesday as the first woman to head Baltimore City’s liquor board as its executive secretary in its 80-year history.
Her salary, which is still being negotiated, will be in the $78,000 to $101,000 range. According to the board, she was selected based on her qualifications, not political patronage as in the past.

• CUMMINGS DENIES CONSPIRING WITH IRS AGAINST CONSERVATIVE GROUPS
The ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee is under fire from Fox News over allegations he helped the IRS target conservative organizations. The former IRS official the Maryland congressman is accused of colluding with, Lois Lerner, resigned and took the Fifth Amendment rather than testify regarding her role in the scandal.
