  SECRET OBAMA-CLINTON LUNCH REVEALS CLOSE TIES

The informal private lunch the President had Thursday at the White House with Hillary Clinton never appeared on any official schedule and was only acknowl- edged by government officials after People magazine posted about it on Twitter.

UPDATE (May 30th):  The tweet was abruptly taken down when the White House insisted that what People had termed “a meeting” should be more accurately described as “a lunch.”

  PRETRIAL REFORM PANEL CREATED BY O’MALLEY

The governor on Tuesday ordered the creation of a 23-member commission to examine and improve the way the criminal justice system treats arrested suspects prior to trial, including the feasibility of implementing an objective risk-assessment computer program to determine whether an arrestee should be held in custody or released before trial.

  NIGERIAN OFFICIAL SAYS MISSING GIRLS HAVE BEEN FOUND

Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, Nigeria’s chief of defense staff, said Monday the government knows the whereabouts of several hundred kidnapped girls but cannot reveal their location and cannot use force to rescue them.

“The good news for the parents of the girls is that we know where they are, but we cannot tell you,” Badeh told a group of visitors at his office in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
